Sandesha, 22 June 2022: A meeting of diocesan secretaries from the Social Communication Commission was convened, aiming to foster greater collaboration among the dioceses of Karnataka. The meeting, held on 22 June 2022 at Sandesha, witnessed active participation from key representatives.

In his address, Bishop Henry D’Souza of Bellary, who also serves as the Chairman of the KRCBC Commission for Social Communications, emphasized the immense potential for improvement in the realm of communication. He urged Catholic communicators to engage in a process of continuous enhancement by embracing the principles of listening, accompaniment, and journeying together. Stressing the importance of serving the synodal Church, Bishop Henry likened communications to the very essence of life – breathing into human relationships.

Recalling Pope Francis’ message on the 56th World Communication Day, Bishop Henry highlighted the significance of listening and seeking the truth as the foundation of fruitful dialogue and relationships. He called for a revival of authentic listening, which demands courage, an open heart devoid of prejudice, and an unbiased approach.
The session, moderated by Fr. Sudeep Paul, Regional Secretary of Social Communications, KRCBC, centered on the points raised by Bishop Henry. Additionally, Dr. Cyril Victor, Secretary of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) Media Apostolate, conducted an enlightening session on the diverse works of CCBI Media Apostolate and a synodal consultation.
During the gathering, each diocesan director presented reports on the activities conducted within their respective dioceses and reviewed the objectives outlined in the Social Communication Commission’s regional pastoral plan.
The Regional Meet served as a platform to strengthen collaboration and commitment among the dioceses of Karnataka, fostering effective communication channels within the Church community. The shared vision of improved social communications promises to fortify the bonds of faith and understanding among the faithful.
